About the journal
Hot Dogs and Underdogs is a journal about UK non-league football and the experience of going to a game.
The focus is the whole matchday: travelling to a ground, watching from the touchline and taking in the everyday details that surround the football.
This is a place for journeys and observations, not just results. The name brings together two parts of that world: something to eat and a game with a story worth following.
A matchday is more than ninety minutes.
Non-league football invites a closer look: at the ground, the people watching and the places a game takes you.
Hot Dogs and Underdogs makes room for the whole day. Getting there matters. So does finding a spot by the rail, watching the play unfold and stopping for something to eat. The score is part of the story, not the whole of it.
Matchdays is where those journeys and observations belong: a travelogue of football beyond the big stadiums.

At the food stall
A hot dog. A paper tray. Another part of the matchday.
Football journeys have their quieter moments, too. A stop at the snack counter offers a different view of the afternoon: simple food, a pause from the action and the pitch still close by.
There is room in this journal for what happens between the big moments.
